So as this year went on, I have noticed many skills, habits, and mindsets that are still evolving.
Hero's Journey
My first celebration of growth would be my Hero’s Journey project. I have grown into this project with learning so much about the Hero’s Journey. The project was to learn about how stories are made on the line of how the main character goes through his journey either being a hero or being the bad guy with stages as this poster shows that we did in Humanities. Although it might just seem to just be a quick memorization thing with just memorizing the stages, it was kind of hard for me to understand the project but going through examples and then making this project, I understood the Journey strongly. I grew with having knowledge with understanding the project and making- in my opinion, a great colorful project with a perfect example of the map.
Collaboration
My next example would be in Engineering. So in engineering class, we have gone through many projects with my group being in the same group. We had a few projects in the past with my group creating the final project with little communication. We have had missing prewrites, bad foundations with a bad performance with a claw that we had to make, but as we came to this project of making a plane, I knew that this would be a great project with myself knowing quite a bit of aviation and flight. Like I said we have had projects with little communication and collaboration that didn't go well but we in this project we made assigned jobs for everyone in the group. The project was to build an RC plane that flew copying off of a video on youtube. We copied the main gist of what the plane did with us making a new fuselage and such. Here is a picture of what the plane looks like with its rather large body. We all grew into being more better at collaborating in groups especially how we got very distracted in the previous group, we stayed focused and very collaborative with motivation to finish the project.
Staying On Top of Homework
The last great growth celebration would be staying on top of homework. Now this seems very stupid to talk about but as being a freshman last year, I made a promise to my POOL that I would definitely stay on top of my homework, but as the last part of the year last year, I wasn't staying with my promise. As this first part the year ends, I would say proudly that I have accomplished my promise from last year that I thought I would have forgotten about. I would have to make up an excuse like oh I forgot it at my house, I had a long night and didn't get home until midnight and other stupid excuses. An example is in Math class with my notebook having all of my math homework assignments written on. We recently all had homework assigned to everyone mostly every night but with myself writing in my planner what to do, I have made a stay on top of homework promise that has come to life with not having to remind myself and just doing it automatically. I continue to grow in this with myself still once in awhile forgetting an assignment but as I had project application, it had come in handy with needing to do a quick homework assignment of that day but thinking in the future about how I will not have a class to do work in for the first period, I will need to do things at night with myself knowing that I need to find time to do a quick assignment.
Areas Of Growth
With having these celebrations of growth, there are always areas for growth. I have made good decisions with making a great success but then I have other areas of growth that I most definitely need to take care of for this year.
Studying for Tests
I have always had a fear of tests with all classes and part of that reason is that a fear of lack of studying. I have had a few recent tests that I didn't do well on leading up to the fact of not studying. The reason why I have not been studying is that part of the fact I think I always have my head wrapped around it with the other half, thinking to myself that we in class will go over everything the test will include and how to do them. Well, that's not how it is. IN FACT, these tests that I am including for evidence are myself thinkings that I have my head wrapped around it, don't feel like studying because I think I know what's going on, and I thought we would go over the material. Here are a few tests that are perfect examples of what I was talking about. Here is my Biology test with not such a great grade. To easily fix this problem, I have to easily go over all material in all classes and not just that one class that I have homework in. All classes matter in my opinion with needing to have my head wrapped around all classes. With a physical reminder, I will need to write more often in my planner with updates on when tests are going to happen.
Spanish
So this class is the one I have the lowest grade in and there are so many areas for improvement that are keeping my grade back. I have to say that Spanish is just not my thing and I knew that for a while but as it came to the last month of Spanish, I have realized that it's needed for a grade and it could be helpful in the future. The problems that I have had in this class that brings my grade down it mostly not studying for tests while at home and skipping the class to review. Simply I need to advocate on my knowledge in the class as I have done last Friday checking in with missing assignments and anything that brings my grade down.
Ponder Question
I wonder how I can relate every project we do in school to relate to myself to get a better understanding of the project or topic.
