So, as we all know, Animals is in somewhat bad condition whether its the parking lot, size of the school, size of the campus, or what ever. This project that we completed was a really fun experience of the process to design a building or such material. We had to get into groups and we all together we made a successfully design of what this school needs. Before we did any of this, we had to interview people who use this school like students, teachers, visitors, etc. After all of us doing that we came up with who values most. We found that the biggest problem was the parking lot not being big enough, not organized, etc. We then started doing prototypes of the parking lot, with sketch up, Photoshop, etc. We then put it all together and made the final design.
I myself and others learned a lot from this process but most is the construction of budgeting. This was a HUGE take away because we all thought, ok lets just think of what the main things we are going to need but no... thats not just all of it. We all in the group had to think very deep of what the small details would be like a rug for the floor. Anyway, we learned a lot about how the whole budgeting on google sheets worked and learned a lot from that. And also another one of the biggest things we learned in this project was the sustainable building materials. This was one of the difficult and most take away yet. I first didn't really know much on what materials to use but I did know what such as parking lots at stores are made up of and simply put that as what it could be made of but then reaserached deep about concrete and turns out, there are really horrible cemicles in that so we had to re-research and find other ideas. Same goes to mostly all of the specs through out this project.
So, overall this project was a success but we did have some troubles in the middle of it. What really was difficult was that only 2 of us in the group and sometimes only myself was doing the work meanwhile all of my other classmates in my group were on their phones, talking to other groups, etc but then we started assigning people jobs to do within some time so that kind of worked well. If I could change anything in my group, no offense, I would not be in the same group because it felt like I was the only one doing the wokr in the group. I think I have grown as a collaborator in this project but not as everybody else. See, I was that person who did all the work but everybody else didn't. But, I would always collaborate through this project with the other member who did work also so we were collaborating a lot. Then in the last week everyone in the group started chipping in and we all collaborated together making a successful project.
I think every student should have a strong voice in what school they have because every person has a different idea and thats what the world needs, a different idea. But, i dont think that its important and needed but at the same time, it should be considered because everyone has a voice that matters and the ideas that they have. There is no such thing as a dumb idea.
